Moodle Mooc 10
Hello everybody! Today I am going to share with you my first
experience in an online conference. That was the last challenge from my ICT module;
the conference is called Moodle Mooc 10 (MM10).
My classmates and me have been working about our Open Educational
Projects along these months. The purpose of the conference is to share with the
entire world our projects, explaining the procedure that we have followed, how
are our projects structured and what is more, our experience during the ICT
module.
First of all I am going to explain you what is “Moodle Mooc”. It is
an online conference between teachers from all over the world, which consist of
exchanging ideas, projects, experiences, etc. It is a good way to receive and
give some feedback, and what is more, to exchange knowledge and different
methodologies between different cultures and educational systems.
The name of the conference is Open Educational Projects for CLIL
Primary Education, here you can look for more information “Moodle MOOC 10 Online Live Classes”. Our online class took place on Thursday May 4th
at 4 pm at WizIQ.
Now I am going to explain you all the steps that we have followed to go through this challenge:
1. First of all the professor
explained us the steps that we had to followed for the online conference. She
told us to prepare and upload a slideshow with some details about us, and we
had five minutes to defend, expose and define our projects and our experience
in this ICT module.
2. After that, the teacher told us
in advanced that we had the opportunity to practice the online conference some
days before the real conference. The "drill day” was on Thursday, April 27th
at 4pm. That was a good way to check that all our devices such as microphones,
web cams and earphones worked. We also had the opportunity to practice our speeches
and what is more, the chance to see how the platform was structured. Another aspect to bear in mind is that we recorded
all our blogs and important links for us in the forum from the platform of the
ICT module, in order to provide them during our speech, helping each other
partners.
3. The next step was to defend and
present our Open Educational Projects in the 4th of May. We had the
opportunity to expose and see our projects and the works of our partners too.
4. After the conference, we had to
write an entry in our blogs, talking about this experience, therefore, here I
am! We also have to create a post in our twitter accounts using #ictclil_urjc to name our ICT module.

Summary about the conference (how it was structured):
The conference was good, as it was my first online conference, plus
it was not in my mother tongue, I was pretty anxious and worried about my
speech. Although I was practicing several times, I forgot some things to say,
but in general the result was good.
The professor of the ICT module was in charge of giving us our turn
according to the order of the slideshows; she activated your microphone and
your camera when it was your turn, and when you finished your speech the
professor hidden you again. In this way, everybody was able to saw you and
listened to you. There was also a chat, where people add comments. The chat was
very useful for us because our partners could add the links of our blogs, in
this way we helped to each other, and the person who was talking was not
worried about the chat during his/her speech. The chat also was a good way to
facilitate communication between the professor and the students when there was
any problem with the microphone or the web cam, and what is more, to received
congrats and some feedback from the people of the chat.
Reflexion and conclusion:
As my first online conference, I have to say that it was interesting.
Conferences always provide us new knowledge and different way to see the world.
It has enriched me as a teacher and I could check the projects of my partners
deeply.
In general I consider this conference good, we did not have big
technical problems with our devices, and the vast majority of us could expose,
explain and defend their works. Although we spent a long time exposing our
projects, everybody was so patient and kind, it was a pleasure to share that
experience with this people.
To conclude, this experience has been very important for me and it
was the last part of a long process, which we have been working hard to reach
this objective. This conference has provided us the opportunity to share our
works with the entire world, that is not usual because, as I said before, it
was my first time in an online conference like most of my classmates. I will
try to keep improving in my learning and teaching practice because you never stop
learning along your life. That conference has been just the beginning; I will
try to keep myself in this path through the ICT world.
I hope you have enjoyed this post, see you soon bloggers! Never stop
learning, and…check it out!
