Designing an assessment rubric


Hi everybody! Today I am going to talk about assessment, an important part of the learning and teaching process.

I have done a rubric on the first part of my project, but as I have been improving my project I decided to establish a new assessment criteria. There are several online tools to create rubrics quick and easy, but at the end I have chosen Quick Rubric because I found it interesting and adequate to edit my previous rubric.

Rubrics are important to record what do we want from students. The pupils can check the objectives of a task, session, or even about the subject. The teacher is in charge of establishing the objectives according to the needs of the students, and also adapting the tasks to the children who need it.

In this post I am going to create two different rubrics (one for the students and the other for the teacher). The aim of the student' rubric is to provide a guide for students, where they can check what they have to do, and what the teacher want from them and the aim of the teacher's rubric is for the teacher, to assess his/her students. The online tool that I have used is Quick Rubric. Here bellow you can check all the rubrics that I have done and the progress that I have followed:




To conclude I have to say that this post made me think and reflect about how important are rubrics in our classroom. I did not realized the importance of assessment until I started researching about it and I have to say that they are a clue for the success of our students in the school. As teachers we can take several advantages from the assessment such as:

 - Establishing the objectives of the lesson.
- Showing to our students what do we want from them.
- Giving to the students the opportunity to evaluate themselves being honest with their work made in class.
- Fostering organization.
- Learning from their mistakes.
- Learning from the teacher and pair feedback.
- Etc.

As you can see, the assessment is very important for the proper development of our students, therefore, we must foster it properly through the use of ICT tools which help us building our rubrics in an efficient way.

 This challenge has been useful for me, I have learnt several and useful things that I will apply in my future classroom as a teacher. I hope that it has been useful for you as well. See you in the next post bloggers, do not miss it and...Check it out!!
